In April I received a lovely message on Instagram:

‘Kia ora! I just wanted to send a message saying I’ve just discovered your gems and I love them! I do a tv show called all talk with Anika Moa and I wondered if we could talk about me wearing your jewels on my show, do you do that kind of thing? Oh and I love your hair too! Arohanui to you and thank you for making such beautiful things. Ngā Mihi Anika xx’

As you can imagine I was pretty excited. Not only because I’m a big fan but she’s such a fantastic, big hearted, funny and strong woman and those tattoos are pretty darn cool too. A few days later Neeks (as she’s known to her friends) and her stylist Tash Lee popped over to my studio for a girly fun few hours trying on lots of CP bling. Anika seemed to know exactly what she liked and as expected, everything looked great on her. She chose some pieces for both her own personal collection and for her show.  In the mix was an onyx ring and obsidian and red jasper spinner necklaces from the Snowflakes and Jasper range, as well as the new green agate and silver earrings from StoneStruck, an onyx rose gold chunky choker and a rose quartz silver Six Reasons necklace. Everything worked with her wardrobe for the show and her everyday life so she was one happy lady.

Anika’s last words as she walked out the door were ‘If you ever need a model  I’d be super keen’. And you know what folks – watch this space as our serendipitous meeting completed my new campaign concept! You’ll be seeing a lot more of Anika Moa wearing Cathy Pope jewellery very soon.
